Corelle Explosions

This is a small Corelle plate. (And my adorable little sister.) You might remember that earlier this year I broke a bowl.

I thought Corelle wasn't supposed to do that? I haven't even had this set for a year! Does the fact that my kitchen floor is tile have a factor in that?

  1. "Corelle®, long known as *virtually* unbreakable, is upping the ante with Ultra," says Consumers Digest.

    This is from their website.

I starred the important part :)

  2. Well, we've broken a bowl and a plate now. I'm wondering if I should check the warranty and see if they'll send me replacements...

  3. Corelle is certainly durable, but absolutely not unbreakable! Isn't it astonishing how much of an explosion it actually causes? And DO NOT get a sliver of it in you! I think it does make a difference what surface it hits, as well as the angle. Weird...I would contact them and see what their warranty is...I think my mom did that decades ago (I was going through an impressive dish breaking streak) and she did get replacements. Worth a shot.

  4. Tile is pretty durable, and in crashes, something has gotta give, unfortunately it was your correlle. We've had a few of them shatter over the years, and when they do its usually pretty nasty. Warranty though is a great Idea, I wouldn't have thought of that....I would have just been sad and short one dish....

  5. I think the warranty came with the box of dishes. I'm just sad that they keep breaking!

When I shattered the bowl, we kept finding pieces of it behind the crock pot and on shelves... and even under the oven when they replaced it!
